Welcome to Pontypool Relay for Life and thank you for visiting our website.

Who are we and what is Relay for Life?

Relay For Life is a team fundraising challenge bringing communities together to beat cancer and will be the most rewarding thing that you will ever take part in. It is a global movement, with 5,000 relays taking place across the world in 25 countries. There are just 2 relays in Wales, one of which is in Pontypool.

Your team work together throughout the year to raise funds for life saving Cancer Research. At the end of the year, the Relay For Life event brings all the teams together to celebrate their hard work. The teams relay around the track for 24 hours, they set up camp with their team mates and are entertained throughout the 24 hours by various community groups and visitors. The community really do come together to kick cancer's butt. It really is a fantastic day!

Relay For Life Pontypool is held each year in the beautiful Pontypool Park. Our first ever Relay for Life started in April 2016 with a fundraising target of £20,000. The teams smashed the target and raised just over £61,000. We were officially the BEST first ever Relay for Life in the whole of the UK. In 2017, our fantastic teams returned, raising over £63,000 and again in 2018 raising over £45,000. In 2019 we raised a massive £97,000.

Sadly, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, Pontypool Relay for Life had to be put on hold in both 2020 and 2021. Yet, in 2022 we bounced back and our amazing teams raised an massive £51,000 and continued in 2023 to raise an even bigger £91,348. Wow!

In total, Pontypool Relay for Life has raised over £443,866. What an amazing achievement! All money raised by Pontypool Relay for Life funds research in Wales.
